HOW IT WORKS
Sleep Glycolic is the Medik8 approach to glycolic acid for home use.
The smallest of the AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids), glycolic acid, can penetrate deepest into the skin. As a result, glycolic acid can tackle stubborn skin problems such as uneven skin texture and dull skin tone.
Strong home glycolic acid products (usually daily toners) are readily available and are often intended for regular, daily use. This can cause irritation and damage the skin barrier. That's why we at Medik8 believe that occasional use of glycolic acid is best, not daily. Leave everyday acids to super gentle PHAs (polyhydroxy acids, found in Press & Glow).
Instead, Sleep Glycolic uses an innovative at-home glycolic acid treatment that harnesses the powerful exfoliating effects of glycolic acid in a fortnightly treatment without the drawbacks.
Glycolic acid is encapsulated in a crystal cyclodextrin 'shell' that is slowly broken down on contact with skin enzymes. Due to the encapsulation, the very strong exfoliating acid is gradually introduced into the skin overnight to reduce the chance of irritation.
With a total of 10% free active acid, glycolic acid can easily penetrate the skin, improving the end result. This is the ultimate glycol power, without the drawbacks.

Glycolic Acid With the smallest particle size of all AHAs, glycolic acid is the most potent. It breaks down bonds between dead skin cells so they can be easily removed to reveal fresher, newer skin cells underneath. This creates a visibly clear and smooth skin
Crystal Encapsulation A cyclodextrin-based shell that encapsulates the glycolic acid. This is slowly broken down on the skin so that the glycolic acid is gradually released into the skin so that irritation is reduced.
Glycerin An effective ingredient that attracts moisture like a magnet, leaving skin feeling hydrated, soft and supple.
